This is the data originating from the Decagon RT-1 and GS3 probes used to measure environmental parameters. The RT-1 probes were used to measure ambient air temperatures and internal carcass temperatures. The GS3 soil sensor probes were used to measure soil moisture, soil temperature, and soil electrical conductivity. Decagon sensor boxes have 5 port placements, and two boxes were used for connecting each type of probe (total of four). The first three lines of the spreadsheet indicate properties recorded (degrees C, %VWC, etc.) or calculated (ADH_ambient, etc.), replicate (B1, B2, etc. representing beavers 1 and 2 respectively, and their associated probe number), and sensor type (RT-1 or GS3). Data fields denoted by -9999 are blanks and represent data that has been removed due to sensor error; for example we had occasions where sensors were chewed on by animals and required replacement or removal, and occasionally sensors failed. All means calculated in these cases were based upon remaining values. This is the master file that used to generate Figure 1.
